do you want anything?
oblivion, jelly, more painkillers? more painkillers?
sure, maybe this time they’ll work do your thoughts hurt again?
 are you gonna explode
or bite out your tongue?
maybe i could slap you or something? yeah? ready? see the leaves light up again, veins aglow
touch the sky, purple again, reaching low see the world
 all everything
vast enough to know everything everything everything

“-flavour?” “vanilla” “what flavour?” “vanilla”

“You sure love? Got Volcano Instecticide, Light In The Morning and Tears!”
“I’ve tried other flavours, I just wanna make this a nice one - I lost my Dad last night to lies and fears”

and the walls came down for a sec when we rivulet the world we make it better
we make it better when we rivulet the world we make it better we make it better “limit your smoking” “you’re dead! are you joking?”
“don’t breathe so much... ...what I mean is I love you and if you died I’d die” a word is a weight is a jetpack inflated by good intent
you can build a whole world and give every idea a try
looooooock up your juuuuudge for a sec! when we rivulet the world we make it better
 we make it better
when we rivulet the world we make it better the page is a playground, the dark can’t hurt you here nor can you hurt anyone when we rivulet the world we make it better
 we make it better
when we rivulet the world we make it better we make it better when we sing in the dark we make it better
 we make it better
when we rivulet the world we make it better we make it better

raspberry eyes
you had one job to do: make sense of it all raspberry eyes
it’s far too far it’s far too high sensitive
the crashing weight of cloudy grey raspberry eyes
you had one job to do: take care of it all raspberry eyes
the drink of drinks, the sigh of sighs one blue eye looks down at me the other winks a raspberry wrapped in grey sheets raspberry eyes
you prayed for peace and got demise raspberry eyes
shine bitter cold to mask surprise

Jesus sits next to me on the bus with strong BO i resent him for it
this fog is for me, apparently
this fog is for me, apparently i don’t ask his, i just say black is my favourite colour coz it’s got all of them
it’s the densest rainbow he tells me resentment’s only useful if it motivates action so i spitefully teach myself to truly enjoy
 pointless, endless resentment
its use is my pleasure i showed him, didn’t i? black is my favourite colour coz it’s got all of them
it’s the densest rainbow at home i wear a soft, pink sack on my head so i know when no-one’s around at home i wear a soft, pink sack on my head so i know when no-one’s around black is my favourite colour coz it’s got all of them
it’s the densest rainbow

feet in the hands of a stranger
fear: is it love is it danger well the wind without fire lives alone
she would die to have you come and nestle in the furnace
for you are baron and shapeless as sand
come and drink from the fountain and wet your desert insides feet in the hands of a stranger fear: is it love is it danger there’s a spirit within screaming low it’s a mountain of snakes blind and hungry for the centre now a circle is made, biting tails it’s the end of the earth and the brightest ever future feet in the hands of a stranger
fear: is it love is it danger
 dirty, the noblest behaviour
feet in the hands of your saviour feet in the hands of a stranger
fear: is it love is it danger

feel that rolling It’s the crescent underneath you yearning folding that dependable inconstant moon and you can stand up you can stand upon it you can stand up you can stand, I promise I know what’s real I’ve felt the truth It’s a lead pipe to the larynx It’s the sparkle of a raindrop on a rose and the dead eyes of an addict but you can stand up you can stand up on it you can stand up you stand, I promise running away only feels great if you’re never going back there so you might as well greet the dragon, if love is what you live for but of course it’s ok if you’ve run away and you wanna come back home maybe a new love can be born in the place of that wretched shredded dread-tome coz you can stand up you can stand upon it you can stand up you can stand a promise you can stand up you can stand upon it you can stand up you can stand a promise you can stand up you can stand upon it you can stand upon it you can stand up you can stand a promise you can stand, I promise

about

DNA Kisses was written and recorded between 2019 and 2020, in a small house in Tempe, Sydney (Gadigal And Wangal land), Australia. I had arrived there with no job and only a handful of connections, and having just made my way out of a long depression. Somehow, I was immediately embraced by a wonderful community of musicians who were incredibly supportive and interested in any music with magic in it. This EP is my intuitive exploration of the good, the true and the beautiful, their opposites and enemies, and my gratitude for the new life I had been given. The songs are populated by images religious, sacrilegious, profound and absurd, as well as some of my favourite Sydney musicians. Making it was a really deep undertaking - hundreds of hours of love and care and thought went into it - and I think you can tell. I hope it stirs you, like tea or cake mix or something.
